Problemas na configuração do monitor no CL9
pelo que vc comentou, seu Xfree já deve estar instalado, e se eu entendi bem o seu problema, o que vc tem que alterar não é a resolução do monitor e sim a profundidade de cores.
No conectiva, o arquivo responsável por essa configuração é o XF86config-4, que se localiza na pasta /etc/X11/
vc pode alterar esse arquivo de várias maneiras, tipo: usando o Xconfigurator, o xf86cfg e até mesmo o editor de texto vim, depois basta reiniciar o X que suas configurações já estarão em pleno funcionamento!
Obs.: se ainda assim não funcionar, poste o conteúdo do arquivo XF86config-4 aqui no forum para que possamos analisá-lo! 8)

Certo, daqui a pouco eu posto o conte'udo deste arquivo aqui, porem acho que o grande problema do meu X nao e a profundidade de cores, ja que estou utilizando 24bits, acho que o problema do meu X e a configuracao da placa de video, pois ela e uma Sis 6206 e pelo que vi no kernel 2.4 nao tem um driver para esta placa.
Estou tentando compilara o kernel 2.6 la so que esta acontecendo um monte de erros e como eu nao consigo ficar ligado no X por muito tempo (ele esta cansando a vista pra kct) nao consigo achar uma solucao para isso.
Vou tentar alterar a profundidade das cores, para ver o que acontece......

Na verdade vc está usando 16 Bits, mude o DefaultDepth 16 para DefaultDepth 24 e veja se resolve!!!

Cara já mudei tudo, mudando para 24 bits a coisa melhora, ao invés de o monitor ficar com chuviscos, ele exibe um faixa vertical com uma imagem de outro lugar....
por exemplo bem aqui agora, estou vendo uma faixa que me mostra aquele canto, lá do baixar
sacou?
Acho que é erro do driver, só que não consigo compilar o kernel aqui
