Problema Inicializacao Gnome2

Ola amigos, estou com o Slackware 9.0 e nao consigo rodar o Gnome2, porem com o KDE 3.1 nao tenho problemas. A
principio criei o arquivo .xinitrc no /root e executo a instrucao exec gnome-session, mas ele retorna a msg de erro abaixo:

No fonts found; this probably means that the fontconfig
library is not correctly configured. You may need to
edit the fonts.conf configuration file. More information
about fontconfig can be found in the fontconfig(3) manual
page and on http://fontconfig.org
root@ymz_srv:~# und; this probably means that the fontconfig

Use o comando xwmconfig e escolha sua interface preferida !!

Vc instalows o S.O. full ou tirou alguns pacotes na instalação?
Se sim, quias os pacotes que vc tirows...

Infelizmente ja tentei esse procedimento mas nao obitive sucesso, a principio ele ate inicializa (tela inicial Gnome) porem eh apresentado o mesmo dito anteriormente.

Ola, efetuei a instalacao via no modo de selecao manual dos pacotes (expert), apenas nao foram adicionados alguns editores e gerenciadores graficos (fwm, fwm95, etc.), o restante praticamente foi instalado tudo.
