xfree no debian

Estou tentando instalar o debian 3.0-r2 no meu desktop mas ao iniciar o kde ele dá um erro que nuca vi antes:

Fatal server error:
no screens found

O que pode ser? será que ele não reconheceu a placa de vídeo? onde devo olhar?

Kra a melhor forma de saber o que esta ocorrendo é dar uma verificada no log do sistema, isso ajuda muito. Verifique a mensagem que apresenta no seu log e poste ela junto com a sua dúvida, acho que assim fica mais fácil de lhe ajudar.

Notei que no log aparece que ele foi compilado no kernel 2.6.3, será que está aí a diferença?
