    Padrão XFree86 + GeforceFX5200 + Debian 3.0 r2

    Olá pessoal,

    Me chamo Adriano tenho 26 anos sou de Santo André-SP e fiz o curso Linux Security System Administration na 4Linux e já usava GNU/Linux há algum tempo como curioso, O curso lá é todo focado no Debian, já utilizei Slackware, RedHat e Kurumin, de todos preferi o Debian e é nele que vou me especializar.

    Estou com um problema que para a maioria de vocês deve ser ridículo, porém para mim está me chateando bastante: A utilização do X-Window com a Geforce no debian, vou dar o setup do meu pc para que vocês tenham uma idéia geral, e copiarei aqui os erros e alguns logs para facilitar a resolução.

    O Erro propriamente dito:

    Chamo o xf86config e vou seguindo os passos normalmente e configurando de acordo com o meu computador, depois de finalizado e salvo o arquivo, chamo o XFree86 -configure para criar o arquivo .new e fazer pequenos ajustes e depois renomeá-lo para XFree86config-4 ele me dá o seguinte erro:

    Padrão instalação de VGA no Linux

    Vc deve escolher os drivers genericos da NVidia, e naum um VGA qualquer. Se não me engano eh a opção 18 na lista de Drivers... naum tenhu certeza. Mas assim, vc já tentou instalar o driver da própria NVidia?? Pega o driver lah e da uma olhada na documentação que tem lah .. pra vc q ja tem experiencia em mecher em linux vai entender tudo numa boa!

    depois eh soh alterar no teu ".conf" gerado pelo xf86config e trocar o driver genérico "nv" (quando se escolhe o Driver generico da NVidia, no seu caso foi "vga") para "nvidia".

    já tentei com o genérico, já tentei com o vesa, jah tentei com generic vga adapter, já baixei da nvidia e num vai nada nem no xfree nem no xorg, tô ficando com o saco na lua já. tô quase desistindo, alguem já teve esta dificuldade ou só eu q sou burro?

    já tentei com o genérico, já tentei com o vesa, jah tentei com generic vga adapter, já baixei da nvidia e num vai nada nem no xfree nem no xorg, tô ficando com o saco na lua já. tô quase desistindo, alguem já teve esta dificuldade ou só eu q sou burro?

    Assim, qual a mensagem de erro que aparece quando vc tenta instalar o driver da própria NVidia???

    Véio.. eu acho q o seu problema pé o mesmo que o meu... esse maldito modelo de placa da MSI GeForce FX 5200 eu num consegui fazer funcionar nem com bomba também... porem ja exprimentei trocar por uma GeForce FX 5200 de qualquer outra marca e funciona parfeitamente....
    Da MSI em especifico ja virei do avesso e não consegui fazer funfar...só funfa com driver "nv"...
