DICA p/ driver NVIDIA

Ae pessoal não sei se vcs tiveram esse tipo de problema ai mas aqui aconteceu o seguinte, eu usava o driver generico da nvida "nv", mas depois resolvi instalar o driver da nvidia mesmo pra ativar 3d (http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux_d..._1.0-7174.html).

Antes de migrar o driver eu usava resolucao de 1400x1050, mas depois que migrei, dps de mto bater a cabeça soh deixava 1280x1024, nos logs do Xorg, ele dizia:

(WW) NVIDIA(0):      EDID-specified maximum 1280)

Pra resolver isso bastou uma linha de configuração, adicione isso aqui na seção "Device" do seu xorg.conf

depois que eu usei o driver genérico da nvidia e troquei a placa de vídeo por uma on-board que estava sendo usada antes, deu vários paus no meu X. Altos problemas mesmo.

tem mais um detalhe que esqueci de falar, a minha conf no driver generico era assim:

eu tenho um geforce 4 mx440(agp8x) e tive problemas com o "nvidia"... após comecar a usar o pc trava do nada... alguem sabe o porque? uso ubuntu 5.10.

tente procurar pelo log e ver o erro! os logs do xfree e xorg são bastante completos..

1400X1050 em monitor de quanto?

Aqui com monitor de 17" LG 710e e VGA GForce 6600 Pci express 16x, rodando ubuntu, só me dá 1280X1024..

W00dy, aqui eu tive q fazer o seguinte. Eu editei colocando a resoluçõ maior, porém continuou sem dar essa opção de resolução no X. Então eu editei o xorg.conf e deixei como opção somente a resolução que eu queria e depois entrei no X. Aí sim consegui a resolução maxima. Depois disso vc pode voltar as outras resoluções também para o xorg.conf, que o X vai continuar na resolução máxima. Por que tem que fazer isso eu não sei, só sei que funciona.
