Problemas no MYSQL

Galera estou com uma baita problema no mysql ... instalei ele agora no mandrake 9 e esta dando alguns problemas..

$ mysql_install_db

with this binary MySQL version. The MySQL daemon, mysqld, should work
normally with the exception that host name resolving will not work.
This means that you should use IP addresses instead of hostnames
when specifying MySQL privileges !

Atualize o Glibc ou use um mysql mais antigo.

Se você compilou o MySQL, tente instalá-lo à partir dos pacotes .rpm do Mandrake. Este bug deriva-se ao fato de que você está tentando instalar o servidor com uma versão da glibc muito antiga. Existem outros builds do MySQL em seu site oficial. Check it out.

Pessoal reinstalaei e deu esse erro.

Ele tah dando conflito com outro mysql instalado. Remova o outro completamente antes.

Depois de remover com o rpm -u mysql* , faça um find / -name mysql* e remova todas as entradas.

-u: opção desconhecida

Remove esses arquivos que ele disse que tah com conflito. Vc não removeu os arquivos do /usr/bin/

faça rm /usr/bin/mysql*

Dae depois remova os outros arquivos que ele fala.
