Servidor de e-mail qual o melhor ?

Depois de muito tempo atuando no Linux preciso fazer uma coisa que nunca precisei, instalar um servidor de e-mail com tudo que tem direito, preciso de um que seja robusto, fácil de configurar e que não dê muita manutenção. Qual vocês indicam ?

Sendmail - é cheio de problemas de segurança e uma configuração pra lá de criptográfica, horrível.

qmail - não é livre.

bem... as pessoas deveriam SEMPRE se preocupar em estudar/pesquisar ANTES de falar bobagens, claro. O Qmail é GRÁTIS. Mas não é LIVRE.

Well, qmail has the following issues in its license: (which is not precisely phrased, but its author expressed his thoughts on it on his site)

1. One is not allowed to distribute modified sources. (only patches to the source can be distributed).

2. One is not allowed to distribute modified binaries, (or perhaps not even any binaries).

As a result, most distributors cannot distribute qmail in a straight-forward way, or release updates to it (assuming they would have to make some). People cannot directly fork qmail to make it better.

qmail itself has been unmaintained for some time now. Rumors are that now it doesn't even compile cleanly on Linux without patches. There are many third-party patches, and also netQmail which consists of the qmail program along with more files and a really big patch, that integrates many of these patches together. However, it is not directly supported by the author.

Due to its license and restrictions, qmail is not a part of most major distributions, and so one cannot receive timely updates to it in a starightforward way. Furthermore its author (D.J. Bernstein) is one of the most opinionated, stubborn, and socially-challenged UNIX developers. (while being very talented and knowledgable). Right now, he's been very busy in a crypto/inidividual rights-related lawsuit, a job as a university lecturer, and work on djbdns - a secure DNS server with the same restrictions, and as a result has completely neglected qmail.

I really would prefer not to use software with someone like that as a chief developer and copyright owner, at least not if it's limited by the added restriction. (if it was open-source, it could have at least been possible to fork it.)"

Já o Postfix tem licensa pública IBM a qual, embora não compatível com a GPL devido à certas restrições de patentes que NÃO NECESSÁRIAMENTE a tornam incompatível com modificações e liberdade de utilização, etc.

Enfim, continua SEMPRE havendo uma diferença entre o que é GRÁTIS (O Qmail é grátis) e o que é LIVRE (O Postfix é livre).

Se queremos DE FATO algo então condizente com o conceito de SL (O Linux é SL, portanto, livre), podemos utilizar o Exim



BTW, eu PESQUISO antes de falar besteiras.
Síntese e conclusão:
O Exim é Livre e GPL. O Postfix é Livre mas não GPL. O Qmail não é livre, menos ainda GPL (risos).
